Close Board Fencing.

Close Board Fencing - 3 Reasons Why to Choose This Type of Fencing

If you are thinking of having a new garden fence it is important to choose the right fencing for the job, making the correct decision could save you a lot of money in the long run and you can enjoy your fence and private garden for many years.

Close board fencing is an excellent option, here's why:

1) Close board fencing is one of the strongest types of fencing available, it can be made in two ways, preformed panels or handmade individually installing the wooden slats, the pieces of wood in close board are "not" running horizontally like lap panels but are "vertical slats" of wood.

2) A typical panel would be 6' x 6' and would either slot down in between concrete posts or can be fixed to wooden posts, this makes it easy to use close board fencing with existing fence posts.

3) Close board fencing can be made by hand on site this also can be installed using concrete posts or wooden posts, this handmade fencing is typically known as, close board bays, one of the reasons you may require your fencing to be made up on site is that you may have existing posts which are not exactly 6 foot apart, meaning that if you fencing was made on site it would fit perfectly withing your existing posts, creating a better end result.

If you were to have this fencing made up on-site, the way to do this is to install the posts then attach arris rail, then attach the individual pieces of feather edge, feather edge are the pieces of wood that attach vertically.

To prolong the life of your fencing you would install gravel boards, a gravel board is a concrete plinth that sits directly underneath the fencing panel or bay. This stops the panel or bay from touching any mud and will help prevent the panel or bay from rotting.

So, if you are looking for a new garden fence you may want to consider using close board fencing as it is very strong, can be used with existing concrete or wooden posts and it can also be made up on site should you have existing posts of varying distances apart.
