A lot of people prefer the wooden shed because they are natural looking and will blend into your garden.
There are downsides to having a wooden shed. They will rot if not kept maintained. You need to ensure you use special varnishes and wood treatments. These are specifically designed to ensure your wooden shed does not split or rot.
The other thing about wooden garden sheds is that they need more maintenance than say a metal shed. If you don't mind the extra maintenance, the natural look of the shed in your garden will be a big advantage.
Hardware stores will sell you plenty of different types of wood preservatives, stains and varnishes that will help you maintain your wooden garden shed.
One of the best things about maintaining your wooden shed in this way is that you won't lose the natural look of the wood as you are not covering it in paint.
Using preservatives, stains and varnishes will help to protect the wood of your shed from rain, sun and snow.
It is important to note that there are certain types of wood that are resistant to rain naturally. Wood such as cedar is known for this. You may end up spending a little more in the first place to buy a cedar wood garden shed, however the maintenance costs will be lower in the long run.
The other good thing about wood garden sheds is that if you choose to paint it to match something in your garden, this can easily be done better than say a metal shed.
