Close board fencing is one of the strongest types of fencing available, it can be made in two ways, preformed panels or handmade individually installing
The wooden slats, the pieces of wood in close board are “not” running horizontally like lap panels but are “vertical slats” of wood.
A typical close board panel would be 6’ x 6’ and would either slot down in between concrete posts or can be fixed to wooden posts.
If close board fencing is to be made by hand on site this also can be installed using concrete posts or wooden posts, this handmade fencing is typically known as, close board bays.
It’s completely made up on-site, the way to do this is to install the posts then attach arris rail then attach the individual pieces of feather edge,
Feather edge are the pieces of wood that attach vertically.
Also gravel boards can be used in handmade fencing or ordinary fencing, this is a concrete plinth that sits underneath the fencing panel or bay. This stops the panel or bay from touching any mud.
Installing gravel boards will help prevent the panel or bay from rotting.
