Gates and Farm Gates

When considering purchasing a gate you should bear in mind the various types and materials.

There are many types of gate i.e. wooden steel and galvanised, your typical household garden gate would be made of wood or in some instances wrought iron, generally wooden gates for your garden or drive can be
supplied within a few days providing the gate width and height are a standard size.

Any over sized gate or special order gate generally take approximately 2 weeks to make, wooden gates can be made either in treated softwood which is treated regularly will last many years, or your gates could be made from oak which will last for many many years but oak is obviously the more expensive option.

Moving on to iron gates and galvanised gates in the main this type of gate can be made with automation, iron gates are generally powder coated or painted, the benefits of using iron or wrought iron gates are they do not
swell or warp in adverse weather conditions.

Wrought iron gates can be made decorative but still need to be painted annually. moving on to galvanise gates these are typically used on the farm but can also be used as driveway gates.

The benefits of using a steel all galvanised gate is that they are low maintenance.

Steel palisade and wrought iron gates are generally open in structure allowing the wind to travel through. Wooden gates unless specific are generally closed not allowing winds to travel through although Palisade Gates can be made from wood.
